A Song a Day – Day 318

I don’t really like silence. I know a lot of people do, but I don’t. During the day when I’m home alone there’s usually music coming from somewhere and even in the shower I like to have some background noise. Chewy usually turns it off – he does like silence.

However. I’ve just spent three days in the company of seven (French-speaking, but that was a secondary problem) adults who talked non-stop. Yesterday a couple more turned up, and the volume increased. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t boring mindless drivel they were talking about; it was warm, funny, family chit-chat. But it seemed to never end. There was never a moment of silence.  A little voice at the back of my head started to silently plead with them to stop talking, and a louder voice particularly wanted them to stop talking to me. Now we’re back and I am so talked out I’ve even turned off the radio. Ah, the sound of silence.

Song of the day

I can’t do it. I just can’t do it. I can’t take any more. You’ll have to make up your own tune for today, because today the only noise I want to hear is silence.

  1. Wouahaha!
