Visit France in September

Well, the temperature continues to hover in the mid-20s, and today I acted on Gitika’s suggestion of yesterday and headed for the beach. Fantastico! The sea’s still warm and the tourist crowds have pretty much gone. It was glorious. Let’s hope it continues to Christmas.

Here’s some free advice. If you plan to visit the south of France, September is the month to come. July and August are too hot, it’s too crowded, it’s hard to find accommodation and the prices go up. June is nice but it’s still warming up from the winter (the sea in particular). Before June and after October it rains all the time. October’s very pretty, but by the end it’s gotten a bit chilly. Now is the time!

Song of the day

Diana Krall is a very recent discovery. This particular recording isn’t a favourite. It feels both overdone and drags a bit but I’m not going to hold that against her. Cry Me a River by Diana Krall.
