Gitika just posted about walking in London, which brought back fond memories of the longest walk I ever did in London. Four of us gone to see Phantom of the Opera in the city centre. It was winter, and by the time it finished, it was late, there was a thick blanket of snow on the ground and… no buses, taxis or any other form of motorised transport around. There was no alternative but to walk the seven miles or so back home to Crouch End – through deep snow. As I remember it took us most of the night. We made a stop about 4am at a bakers to buy bread and eventually staggered home about 5am. A magical night.
Song of the day
September and October are my favourite months of the year. It’s still warm, but the light is mellowing and the trees are turning all those gorgeous autumn colours. I’m not a big fan of U2 but as soon as I looked out the window this morning, this tune started running through my head. It’s a Beautiful Day, by U2.
