While spring and summer come early here on the Côte d’Azur, so does autumn. Just when a lot of people are starting their summer holidays, I’ve spotted the first brown leaves on the ground. Swings and roundabouts. The pesky shrieking swifts seem to have moved on – yippee!
Yesterday evening bordered on magical. A couple of friends are on holiday here and we took them for a picnic at Cap d’Antibes. The air was warm and soft, the waves lapped against the shore, the yachts in the bay swayed in time to the current and the beam from the lighthouse swooped out to sea (waxing lyrical here :-)). I’d post a picture but I can’t find one that does it justice. All this together with good food and great company. To top off the evening, an electrical storm lit up the sky to the east, while a much less impressive fireworks display lit up the north. An evening that I’ll remember for a long time.
Song of the Day
I’m a bit stuck for a song for today. I’ll go for this one – The Boys of Summer, by Don Henley. Not a favourite, but the vid is quite summer-ish.
