A Song a Day – Day 160

The AnimalsI was listening to Piers Morgan being interviewed by Richard Bacon the other day. He talked about his time as editor of the  Daily Mirror and the News of the World. He also talked about his time on Britain’s Got Talent. It was only then that I realised that the Piers Morgan from Britain’s Got Talent is the same guy who was fired as editor of the Daily Mirror. Duh! But how does someone who used to be a newspaper editor get to be a judge on a talent show? On the other hand, I’m happy to say that as a result of this, I now know the difference between Britain’s Got Talent and the X Factor!

Piers also talked about Twitter. His most memorable line was “Twitter is for twits”. I wholeheartedly agree. I have a Twitter account. I’m following about about 800 people, including 6 Wayne Rooneys and 4 Rio Ferdinands (how are you supposed to tell which is the real one?). I’m followed by around 50 people, none of whom are known to me, and who I occasionally bless with verses from the Bible. Every so often I go along and start  to follow as many random people as I can be bothered. My long-term ambition is to follow everyone on Twitter.

Enough of the twittering. On to the music. Today’s tune is from a fellow blogger frizztext/frizzguitar who added a link to this in a comment. It’s really cool and deserves a wider audience.  This song has a special place in my heart; the most famous version was recorded by The Animals, who, along with Sting, Dire Straits, Brian Johnson (AC/DC) and Hank Marvin(!), are from my home town.

  1. Aw shucks, thank you 🙂

I showed Mr DV your vid (he’s the fingerpicker in the family). His comment: “he’s good”. You could take that as a sign that you’re ready for stardom. He never says anyone (apart from Tommy of course) is good. He also said something like “why does he play the D major chord in D minor?” or vice-versa, I can’t quite remember. Does that mean anything to you?
