How the Internet Changed My Life

Last night I went to someone’s house. I didn’t know him, I was invited by a mutual friend.

It turned out our host was coming to the end of his annual, mini-music festival. Every couple of years or so, he invites his friends to come and jam at his house for a week. He’s an American, living in France. His friends came from all over the world. Some Americans, some Brits, a couple of Italians, lots of French, and various others. It was a great evening.  Good conversation, live music, cold beer, great food (thank you again P, you did a wonderful job). All the ingredients for a good night.

How did such a diverse group of people come together in one place? Through the internet. Every single person present was there because they shared a  common interest in music, and had participated in a wonderweb forum. And me? Me too! I met our mutual friend through another forum. None of us would ever have shared that great night if it hadn’t been for the invention of the wonderweb.

Isn’t the internet a wonderful thing?
